This week is Mental Illness Awareness Week in several parts of the world – encompassing World Mental Health Day on 10th October.
To help raise awareness, we’ve launched our #ShreddingTheStigma campaign, featuring a series of artists helping to shred the existing stigma around mental health in music and beyond.
Our first video welcomes rock and party God, Andrew W.K. who talks to us about using music as an emotional outlet, helping himself personally and in his efforts to positively connect with others.

The first in our #ShreddingTheStigma series sees @andrewwk talk about music as an outlet for emotion, positivity and much more. Please share this video, the hashtag and your own experiences of using music as a creative & emotional stimulus 💙 #dontfretclub #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthstigma #mentalhealthweek #worldmentalhealthday #andrewwk #music
How can you support the campaign? Simply share the hashtag with your friends, repost the videos and comment with your own tips / experiences of using music as a positive outlet.
We hope #ShreddingTheStigma can empower music fans to talk about mental health. It all begins with one conversation, but it continues with a second, third and future discussions to provide ongoing change and effective tools to help improve someone’s wellbeing.
